The San Francisco 49ers do not plan on releasing LB Aldon Smith this offseason. Smith is expected to be suspended at the beginning of the season, but the length of the suspension is not known at this point.

Footballguys View: The Niners have a lot of thinking to do about their troubled linebacker and may want to keep Smith in house to give him support. He’s incredibly talented but it’s increasingly looking like he is just as troubled and abandoning him may be something they worry could make him worse.
