COMMISSIONER’S REPORT: The 2015 Keeper’s Report

The 2015 Keeper’s Report is out! This report is to inform all owner/coach’s in The League! which players have been kept, their keeper’s value, and who will return to the draft pool for next season. Some of you may want to refer back to this as you map out your draft strategy for next season, others may just want to keep a close eye on their rivals. Either way, this report will be up permanently on TheELSIE.com website.

Also, there are now penalties for owner/coaches who decide to drop/cut/waive/etc. a keeper unlike in previous seasons. No longer can you make player drops with keepers knowing that you’ll get that player back at the beginning of next season. With the Keeper’s Value in place, if you drop a keeper that does not meet the Drop Requirements, then a penalty will be accessed to your franchise.

**The Keeper’s Penalties**

Keeper’s Penalties will now be accessed to franchises who outright release a player under contract who do not meet the Drop Requirements.

*Drop Requirements*

You can ONLY release a player under contract if the player is Suspended (suspended whenever, preseason, regular season or post season; and/or for any length of time) or if the player goes on Injured Reserve (IR) OUTSIDE of the regular season (i.e., goes on IR during the Preseason or Postseason).

Keepers meeting these requirements can be dropped outright, no questions asked and no Keeper’s Penalty accessed. This will free up that contract to your franchise to use to sign another player off of your most recent roster. But they will HAVE to be signed to that particular contract only. So if you drop a Keeper 3, you can sign a player from your most recent team to substitute for that keeper but they can only be signed to that particular contract (a Keeper 3 ONLY).

The Keeper’s Penalties are as follows with of course a Keeper 4 Violation being more significant than a Keeper 3 Violation and so forth…

• Keeper 1 Violation – Forfeiture of Tiebreakers, franchise will lose any and all tiebreakers (divisional or conference) for the entire upcoming season.
• Keeper 2 Violation – Forfeiture of Home Field, franchise will play against the Home Field Advantage Rule, even when playing at home for the entire upcoming season (this includes playoffs).
• Keeper 3 Violation – Forfeiture of Picks, franchise will lose their 3rd, 4th or 5th Round selection in the upcoming fantasy draft. The round selected will depend on where team finished that season. A playoff team will lose their 3rd Round selection and a team finishing last in their division will lose a 5th Round selection. By default, a 4th Round selection will be lost if the other two selector’s are not met.
• Keeper 4 Violation – Forfeiture of Keeper’s, franchise can ONLY keep a maximum of 3 players (2 on offense and 1 on defense) and loses their Franchise Tag option for the upcoming season.

Of course trades involving keeper players are still acceptable if you’re savvy enough to persuade another owner/coach into doing so. The only requirement of course is that the trade MUST BE within your conference.

NOTE: With the Keeper’s Violations being in place, we will add a second IR roster spot for emergency purposes or upon request.

Clam Diggers

1. Keeper 1 Contract: Adrian Peterson-RB – Peterson will become a Unrestricted Free Agent in 2016, meaning this player can be resigned to any multi-year contract available (a Keeper 2, Keeper 3, or Keeper 4 contract in 2016 as of now, a Keeper 1 contract would not be available). If the franchise decides to opt out of this players contract, then the player will HAVE to go back to the draft pool to be redrafted.
2. Keeper 2 Contract: Julius Peppers-LB – Player is signed with team till the 2017 season.
3. Keeper 3 Contract: Luke Kuechly-LB – Player is signed with team till the 2018 season.
4. Keeper 4 Contract: Dez Bryant-WR – Player is signed with team till the 2019 season.

The Clam Diggers appear to be set defensively signing their dynamic two linebackers to multi-year deals each, locking up the Face of the Franchise in wide-out Dez Bryant and having the option of locking up the future Hall of Famer Adrian Peterson.

Dread Pirate Oso

1. Keeper 1 Contract: James Laurinaitis-LB – Laurinaitis will become a Unrestricted Free Agent in 2016, meaning this player can be resigned to any multi-year contract available (a Keeper 2, Keeper 3, or Keeper 4 contract in 2016 as of now, a Keeper 1 contract would not be available). If the franchise decides to opt out of this players contract, then the player will HAVE to go back to the draft pool to be redrafted.
2. Keeper 2 Contract: NaVorro Bowman-LB – Player is signed with team till the 2017 season.
3. Keeper 3 Contract: Andrew Luck-QB – Player is signed with team till the 2018 season.
4. Keeper 4 Contract: Le’Veon Bell-RB – Player is signed with team till the 2019 season.

With their offensive signal caller and top running threat locked up on their offensive side of the ball, and their top two tacklers signed for next season, Dread Pirate Oso looks to be in prime shape to make a run at the division and more for years to come.

Keeper 1 Contract: Devonta Freeman-RB – Freeman will become a Unrestricted Free Agent in 2016, meaning this player can be resigned to any multi-year contract available (a Keeper 2, Keeper 3, or Keeper 4 contract in 2016 as of now, a Keeper 1 contract would not be available). 2. Keeper 2 Contract: Paul Posluszny-LB – Player is signed with team till the 2017 season.

I Got Sacks On Sacks On Sacks locked up the injured Charles and the defensive standout that is J.J. Watt. They leave the franchise wide open with having the option of locking up the rookie stand out Devonta Freeman long-term next season if he can continue to prove that he is the real deal.

2. Keeper 1 Contract: T.Y. The Carolina Hitmen will have a choice to make next season when the contracts of both Julio Jones-WR & Tom Brady-QB will be up for resigning. With the aging Tom Brady in his final years of his career, I’m sure they will opt to resign Jones to a long term deal.

With Aaron Rodgers being Franchise Tagged, Georgia Boy will have to opt to resign Lawrence Timmons to a long-term deal next year and let Aaron Rodgers walk or resign Rodgers. In resigning Rodgers however, not only would they lose Timmons but they would also go into the 2017 season with only three keepers.

Hakeem I Saw I Conquered will be curiously watching the recovery of Victor Cruz next season as they will either HAVE to resign Cushing to a long-term deal and let Cruz walk or resign Cruz to a long-term deal. In signing Cruz however, not only would Hakeem I Saw I Conquered lose Cushing, but they will also only go into the 2017 season with only three keepers.

San Diego Goats

1. Keeper 1 Contract: Chandler Jones-DE – Jones will become a Unrestricted Free Agent in 2016, meaning this player can be resigned to any multi-year contract available (a Keeper 2, Keeper 3, or Keeper 4 contract in 2016 as of now, a Keeper 1 contract would not be available). If the franchise decides to opt out of this players contract, then the player will HAVE to go back to the draft pool to be redrafted.
2. Keeper 2 Contract: Justin Houston-LB – Player is signed with team till the 2017 season.
3. Keeper 3 Contract: Jarvis Landry-WR – Player is signed with team till the 2018 season.

With a pair of pass-catchers locked up for the future, the San Diego Goats will now turn the focus on their up and coming defense. Will they lock up Chandler Jones for the future in 2016?

Watt and Rookie of the Year nominee Devonta Freeman being locked up long-term, the Surprise Scorpians will face a decision next season as they will have to decide on resigning their aging future Hall of Fame quarterback or their work horse running back coming back from a season-ending knee injury. Who will return for the 2017 season?

Keeper 1 Contract: Cameron Jordan-DL – Jordan will become a Unrestricted Free Agent in 2016, meaning this player can be resigned to any multi-year contract available (a Keeper 2, Keeper 3, or Keeper 4 contract in 2016 as of now, a Keeper 1 contract would not be available). If the franchise decides to opt out of this players contract, then the player will HAVE to go back to the draft pool to be redrafted.
