TheELSIE.com is the home of the official fantasy league of Envious Now, created in 2012.

We are essentially a two, 12-team fantasy league all under one umbrella. We utilize two player pools, one in each conference, meaning we have a Tom Brady in the Origins Conference and a Tom Brady in the Legends Conference. Dut to the two player pools, no trades between conferences can be allowed.

The official name of our league is The League – E.F.F.L. The E.F.F.L. stands for Elsie Fantasy Football League. Our championship trophy is called The E.L.S.I.E.

E.L.S.I.E. stands for…

  • ELeven
  • Solid
  • Inches of
  • Envy

We take some of the best parts of major sports to form our league. Some examples of this are…

  • our division format of three, four-team divisions in each conference (taken from MLB)
  • our down the stretch, weekly playoff post is referred to as the “Who’s In?” post (taken from the College Football Playoff)
  • our playoffs are referred to as The Chase! (taken from Nascar)
  • our consolation playoff bracket is for draft seeding for the upcoming draft. This is called the Draft Lottery (taken from the NBA)
  • the four conference championship teams are referred to as the Final Four teams (taken from NCAA March Madness)

Some highlights from each season of The League – E.F.F.L. is below…

2020

For the first time since the 2014 season, no league fees were collected. This was primarily in response to the fear that we would not have a football season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. No significant changes were made during this season and no league polls were conducted.

The only newcomer to The League! in 2020 was Josh Craig (Brady Cheats).

Team name changes include G.O.A.T.ing for 7, who changed their team name to Saquon My Chubb and Fournettecation, who changed their team name to the Ovaltine Squad.

2019

Changes to the playoff format and the regular season schedule were the only significant changes going into 2019. There will now be five teams per conference, a total of ten teams that can make the playoffs. Due to this, we have to change the regular season schedule from a 13 week season to a 12 week season. We also had to adjust the amount of Double Header weekends from three to four.

Newcomers to The League! in 2019 include Tee Tabron (TMBGz), Chris Guzman (Hot Streak), John Faramelli (Forte Ounces to Freedom) & Joe Misiura (G.O.A.T.ing for 7, now Saquon My Chubb).

Two Legends Conference members were moved over to the Origins Conference in an effort to make the Origins Conference more competitive. Larry (the Smoked Salmons, now The Reapers) moved from the Legends Central division to the Origins Central and Greg (Hyde Yo Wife, now Make Origins Great Again) moved from the Legends East division to the Origins North.

Team name changes include Hyde Yo Wife changing their team name to M.O.G.A., Make Origins Great Again. The Smoked Salmons changed their team name to The Reapers, the Carolina Hitmen changed their team name to Watch Out Lil’ Bitch & Our Gordon Savior changed their team name to Thielen My Chubb.

2018

No significant changes to report on in 2018. We did experiment with some features like weekly Team Captains, but no major structural changes.

There were a couple of newcomers for the 2018 season. Earl Matthews (Team Supreme), Eric Scott (Bawse Hog Nuts) & Coby Ibeziako (Yonce’s Divas). Name changes were very minimal as Maclin on Dat Ass was the only name change as they changed their name to Our Gordon Savior (now Thielen My Chubb).

NOTE: Jeremy Bennett (co-owner of Beer, Cheese, & Brats) passed away suddenly at the start of the season. The 2018 season was dedicated in remembrance of him…

SEASON SUMMARY:

Final Four Teams: Feeling Green, Our Gordon Savior (now Thielen My Chubb), Fournettecation (now the Ovaltine Squad) & The Gremlins

E.L.S.I.E. Bowl VII: The Gremlins 194.74 – Feeling Green 175.47

2017

The only significant changes in 2017 was the keepers format, as we realized that this league was more of a hybrid, dynasty/keeper league than your average keeper league, and the way we conducted the draft lottery.

Keepers now require draft picks to keep them, depending on their round tender and the draft lottery went to a real lottery using a third party website.

There were a couple of newcomers for the 2017 season. Donavin Serras (Feeling Green), C.J. Jensen (Fournettecation, now the Ovaltine Squad)) & Laurence Sta Ines (BendTheKnee). There were more name changes than newcomers in 2017 as the Church of Zero Tolerance changed their name to the Smoked Salmons (now The Reapers), The Cruciates Curse changed their name to the Alderaan Wookies, DeSeantourage changed their name to The Urge to Purge, and the Barbaric Milk Jousters changed their name to the Wellington Wells Whifflers.

SEASON SUMMARY:

Final Four Teams: BendTheKnee, the Smoked Salmons (now The Reapers), Feeling Green, Maclin on Dat Ass (now Thielen My Chubb)

E.L.S.I.E. Bowl VI: BendTheKnee 155.89 – Feeling Green 116.60

2016

Not many changes occurred between the 2015 season and the 2016 season. The only two significant additions were the graphics which got a major overhaul and the adjustment to the defensive scoring settings. In an attempt to make some of the better defenders just as important as some of the key offensive players, tackles were adjusted from 1 point each to 1.5 points each. Assisted tackles went from 0.5 points to 1 point each. This addition was a major success as we started to see defenders like Luke Kuechly, Kwon Alexander and Landon Collins in the Top 10 in league scoring.

There were several newcomers to The League! in 2016. Tam Van (DaTaminator), Aaron Mathiason (Barbaric Milk Jousters), Chris Butler (Breakin Tackles), Richard Glenn (Maclin on Dat Ass, now Thielen My Chubb), Larry Mrozowski (Church of Zero Tolerance, now The Reapers) and Jamian Shavers (Carnival of Pain). We had three team name changes (two mid-season) as Georgia Boy changed their team name to Da South, Cacahuetes Orange changed their team name to The Cruciates Curse (now the Alderaan Wookies) and Jamstradamus changed their team name to the House of Cards before the season started.

The Origins Conference consisted of three divisions, North, Central and South. The North Division consisted of the Barbaric Milk Jousters, the Clam Diggers, DaTaminator and I Got Sacks On Sacks On Sacks. The Central Division consisted of Breakin Tackles, the Carolina Hitmen (now Watch Out Lil’ Bitch), Da South and Hakeem I Saw I Conquered. The South Division consisted of the BUCKNASTY BOYS, DeSeantourage (now The Urge to Purge), I Go Deep and Maclin on Dat Ass (now Thielen My Chubb).

The Legends Conference consisted of three divisions, East, Central and West. The East Division consisted of Beer, Cheese, & Brats, Hyde Yo Wife (now Make Origins Great Again), The Cruciates Curse (now the Alderaan Wookies) and The Gremlins. The Central Division consisted of the Carnival of Pain, the Church of Zero Tolerance (now The Reapers), the NC Titans and the Surprise Scorpians. The West Division consisted of the House of Cards, Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood, Phlying High and the Soul Snatchers.

Each team played every team in their division twice (home and away), every conference team once and two teams from the other conference. Each division champion and one wildcard would make the playoffs (8 total teams, 4 from each conference). The remaining 16-teams (8 from each conference), would play for their conferences Draft Lottery, a chance at obtaining the 1st overall pick in next season’s draft.

NOTE: Although never a member of The League – E.F.F.L., close friend and confidant Donte Williams passed away suddenly at the young age of 43. Donte was instrumental in helping me create the initial 12-team league now known as the Originals. The Legends Conference Champions trophy (The Donte Award) awarded to the team representing the Legends Conference in the E.L.S.I.E. Bowl is named in remembrance of him.

SEASON SUMMARY:

Final Four Teams: Beer, Cheese, & Brats, the Church of Zero Tolerance (now The Reapers), I Go Deep, I Got Sacks On Sacks On Sacks

E.L.S.I.E. Bowl V: Beer, Cheese, & Brats 195.38 – I Got Sacks On Sacks On Sacks 143.96

2015

The 2015 season saw the biggest changes The League! has seen since its creation. The biggest change being the move to the MyFantasyLeague.com platform, merging into one 24-team league. The move was primarily due to flexibility issues with the NFL.com platform as most of the features we wanted to include could not be done naturally. In example, the Home Field Advantage Rule.

The League! would now be separated into two conferences (Origins and Legends Conferences) with two separate player pools for each conference. Each conference was then separated into three divisions. The League! also moved to a 16-game regular season format with the addition of three Double Header Weekends.

The merging of the existing 36-teams from the previous three leagues into one 24-team league was open to all senior league members first (meaning Origins members had first rights, then the Class of 2013 and so on). Division realignment focused on trying to keep the rivalries already developed in place.

The Origins Conference consisted of three divisions, North, Central and South. The North Division consisted of the Clam Diggers, Dread Pirate Oso, I Got Sacks On Sacks On Sacks and JUICE’s and BERRY’S. The Central Division consisted of the Carolina Hitmen (now Watch Out Lil’ Bitch), Georgia Boy, Hakeem I Saw I Conquered and the San Diego Goats. The South Division consisted of 1010011010, the BUCKNASTY BOYS, DeSeantourage (now The Urge to Purge) and I Go Deep.

The Legends Conference consisted of three divisions, East, Central and West. The East Division consisted of Beer, Cheese, & Brats, the Cacahuetes Orange (now the Alderaan Wookies), Hyde Yo Wife (now Make Origins Great Again) and The Gremlins. The Central Division consisted of Famous’ Crablegs & Bootlegs!, Fear The CAT, the NC Titans and the Surprise Scorpians. The West Division consisted of Jamstradamus (now the House of Cards), Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood, Phlying High and the Soul Snatchers.

The season was increased to a 16-game season, with each team playing every divisional team twice (home and away), every conference team once and two teams from the other conference. Each division champion and one wildcard would make the playoffs (8 total teams, 4 from each conference). The remaining 16-teams (8 from each conference), would play for their conferences Draft Lottery, a chance at obtaining the 1st overall pick in next season’s draft.

NOTE: Samantha York (Peyton’s Girl), one of the original 12 members and the first female team owner of The League! – E.F.F.L. passed away suddenly at the young age of 29. The Origins Conference Champions trophy (The York Award) awarded to the team representing the Origins Conference in the E.L.S.I.E. Bowl is named in remembrance of her.

SEASON SUMMARY:

Final Four Teams: DeSeantourage (now The Urge to Purge), Dread Pirate Oso, Hyde Yo Wife (now Make Origins Great Again), Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood

E.L.S.I.E. Bowl IV: Hyde Yo Wife (now Make Origins Great Again) 140.58 – DeSeantourage (now The Urge to Purge) 113.48
