To Origins, Class of 2013 & 2014’s Finest Owner/Coaches,
I want to start off by saying thank you to all my owner/coaches of The League! for participating in this fantasy football league. I’m reaching out with this email to you all to inform you that the original leagues will not be running this football season. In previous years I have tried to manage all three leagues myself with help from my co-commissioners, but that has become way too time consuming in the fact that I cannot manage & police these leagues as I would like to. So with the help of MyFantasyLeague.com, we are merging two of the three leagues (Origins & ℅ 2013) into one 24-team, two conferences type league.
Note: 2014’s Finest members, there will be room to add you to the new league as I am expecting some members to drop off because of the changes. Please read further…
Now before you go running off at the idea of this, we will maintain two player pools for each 12-team conference, meaning each 12-team league (now a conference) will function as it has in the past. There can be a Peyton Manning in the Origins Conference as well as being a Peyton Manning in the ℅ 2013 Conference. You just won’t be able to make trades between the two conferences, Origins Conference owner/coaches will only be able to make trades with Origins owner/coaches and so forth. Each conference will also have their own drafts as well to keep confusion (and time) to a minimum. In doing this, I will be able to better police everything under one roof and my hope is to enhance everyone’s experience in the process.
Of course, with a change of this magnitude comes additional changes. The biggest being that the league fees will increase dramatically. I have been going back & forth about this for several weeks and have reached out to most of my longer tenured league members for advice and as of now I have to say that all have agreed and sided with me on the league fees increase. In hopes of bringing in the most serious of fantasy football heads, the league fees will be $500.00, with the championship prize being $500.00 and a runner up prize of $250.00. Third place will win their league fees back ($50).
With regard of my Origins, ℅ 2013 & 2014’s Finest league members, my goal is to keep all members around. So I have set up several payment plan options so your league fees won’t hit you all at once. Fees will have to be in BEFORE Week 1 of the NFL season (Thursday Sept. 10th), and will be posted on The ELSIE.com website as in previous years this Monday, July 13th. However, if some league members decide to go another route, I understand. I just hope that you sympathize with me on how difficult it can be managing a fantasy league that I’m passionate about that others are not…, it’s that attitude I want to rid this league of. After all, it’s not just my league it’s all of ours.
I am currently in the process of moving everything over from NFL.com to MyFantasyLeague.com. For the upcoming season, you can still manage your team using the NFL.com website since everyone should already be familiar with managing their team through the NFL.com website, however I encourage everyone to also get familiar with the MyFantasyLeague.com website during the season since you will only be able to keep up with half of the league standings, match ups and so forth. With MyFantasyLeague.com, both the Origins & ℅ 2013 leagues will play games against each other through their custom scheduling which again you won’t be able to follow through the NFL.com website.
We have also made a few rule changes such as the Trade Window Rule, the Neighbors Rule and the Keeper’s Value Rule which will all be covered during the next few weeks. We are also adding a Survivor type challenge that will run alongside our fantasy season in hopes to keep everyone engaged throughout the season.
