Odell Beckham Jr. of the N.Y. Giants

The final weekend is upon us and some of us have our sights on The E.L.S.I.E. Award as other will be preparing for next season. Coming into last week, only two teams had been officially eliminated from The Chase which meant there were still an unheard of 34 (out of 36) teams still mathematically eligible 12 weeks into the season. That’s some impressive work Owner/Coaches!

This week we spotlight Odell Beckham Jr. as he easily was the top story line from Week 12 with his one-handed touchdown grab against the Dallas Cowboys Sunday night (see below). Congrats Odell!

***Commissioner Notes***

With my schedule being so unexpectedly busy this fantasy season, I have not been able to manage things as tightly as I have in the past. THAT will be corrected for next season as I will not take on so much freelance work during the football season so my time can be better managed. A few things have been brought to my attention this season that I would like to address here now.

25 Max Pick Up/Adds for the Season

This feature was primarily put in place to enable more trades within The League! In three full seasons of running these leagues (3 season for Origins, 2 for C/O 2013 & the 1st season for 2014’s Finest), there have been a total of  4 trades in ALL three leagues. Two of which were trades initiated by myself in Origins. Well needless to say, this feature has had mixed emotions with more negative reviews than positive. Next season, there will be no maximum number of Pick Up/Adds during the season. The Pick Up/Adds will be incorporated into the Bounties & Fines System with each Pick Up/Add being $2.00 coming out of your Bounties & Fines balance.

Bounties & Fines

This season we added the Bounties & Fines System to add an additional way for Owner/Coaches to attain monetary prizes. This feature has been a success among the Owner/Coaches and will be brought back next season with changes. This season an Owner/Coach could not go into the red, or have a negative balance. If your balance was $0.00 and you obtained a fine then that fine was basically rendered moot. This will not be the case next season. Positive or negative balances will carry over from week to week and will ONLY return to $0.00 at the end of the season. With the 25 Max Pick Up/Adds coming from your Bounties & Fines pay out balance at the end of the season.

Owner/Coaches Participation

This is by far my BIGGEST pet peeve of being commissioner of The League! With the time & energy that goes into putting this league together, I only ask for Owner/Coaches to field a competitive team week end & week out. I realize the Max Pick Up/Adds rule affected some teams in doing this as they ran out of waiver wire pick ups, those are not the Owner/Coaches I’m referring to in this case. If it is too much for those Owner/Coaches to manage their team week in & week out, please let me know so I can remove you from The League! It seems every year I turn away people in which I come back to later on in the year to replace an Owner/Coach and that person does more than the original Owner/Coach does anyway. This will strongly be policed next season, even if I have to get a few people to just go through every team to see if they have an active roster.

Note: League members, with everyone around family members for the Thanksgiving holiday, there is no better time to bring in new league members. Please let me know if you know someone you think will be good league material. Remember, the last & final new league will be added next season so there are at least 11 spots to fill already…

The Clam Diggers get revenge for a Week 1 loss (149.64 to 114.36) and improves to 1-1 this season against JUICE’S and BERRY’s. Bryant (31.80 points) was tops in Week 10 and Alshon Jeffery (21.50 points) led in Week 11. The Baltimore RB has been a good post-draft pickup for Weapons of Mass Production, averaging 14.94 on the season. A primetime rally on both Sunday Night Football and Monday Night Football wasn’t enough for I go Deep. They scored 32.80 points on SNF and 20.60 on MNF (combining to be 43% of their total score), but The Pride of Detroit still earned the 138.56 to 123.46 victory. Both sides missed scoring opportunities as Mile High had one starter turn in zero points and the Elmboyz also had one. The Elmboyz (5-7, 1,425.19 points) drop to eighth place and Mile High (5-7, 1,440.49 points) remains in ninth place.

There were a few players in this matchup that received plenty of chances, yet could’ve been more effective. On the winning side, Darren McFadden and Joique Bell got 34 total touches but only tallied 82 yards from scrimmage between them. For the Elmboyz, Mark Ingram managed just 42 yards on 13 touches.

For the first time this season, Odell Beckham was the leading scorer on Mile High.

In Week 13, Mile High faces the last-place team in the league, the M0t0rCityBall3rs (3-9, 1,330.49). The Elmboyz will take on The Hagermaniacs (7-5, 1,552.03).

Spartans Beat The Hagermaniacs, Moves to 10th Place

A primetime rally on both Sunday Night Football and Monday Night Football wasn’t enough for The Hagermaniacs. They had 26.50 points on SNF and 35.50 on MNF (combining to be 57% of their total score), but the Spartans still pulled out the 127.86 to 108.36 victory. The late-match efforts were somewhat unexpected, considering their pregame projections forecasted 18.70 points on Sunday night and 26.90 on Monday. The Spartans was led by Anquan Boldin this week, who provided 21.70 points (137 Rec Yds, 1 TD). Tom Brady also helped out with 20.96 points on 349 passing yards (349 Pas Yds, 2 TD/1 Int). Things could have ended differently had The Hagermaniacs not had two starters score zero points (Lavonte David and Graham Gano). The Spartans (4-8, 1,249.12 points) climb into 10th place, while The Hagermaniacs (7-5, 1,552.03 points) drop to fourth place.

Each squad had a player that let some chances slip through his hands. For the Spartans, Jared Cook saw a total of nine targets, but was able to reel in just three catches. Calvin Johnson put on a similar showing for The Hagermaniacs, as he was able to snag four passes on 10 targets.

Since Boldin was the top scorer for the Spartans, it means a different player has led the team in each of the last four weeks. With 25.70 points, Matt Asiata paced the squad in Week 9, while Russell Wilson (18.58 points) was tops in Week 10 and Jordan Matthews (17.70 points) in Week 11.

The Spartans get a challenge in Week 13 when they go up against 99 Bortles of Beer on the Wall (8-4, 1,691.98), who average a solid 141.00 points per game. The Hagermaniacs get the Elmboyz (5-7, 1,425.19).

99 Bortles of Beer on the Wall Brings Down M0t0rCityBall3rs, Has Their Number

99 Bortles of Beer on the Wall remains unbeaten in two matchups with the M0t0rCityBall3rs with a 115.02 to 97.22 win. Their overall record goes to 8-4, while the M0t0rCityBall3rs fall to 3-9. Isaiah Crowell scored two touchdowns and was the reason for the win, garnering 20.80 points for 99 Bortles of Beer on the Wall. That’s a downgrade, however, from Matt Ryan, who earned the top score with 35.42 points the last time these teams met. 99 Bortles of Beer on the Wall played one starter with zero points while the M0t0rCityBall3rs served up two goose eggs, meaning both sides missed scoring opportunities.

Frank Gore had numerous opportunities for the M0t0rCityBall3rs, but only produced 2.8 yards per touch.

Since Crowell was the leading scorer for 99 Bortles of Beer on the Wall, it means a different player has now led the team in each of the last seven matches. With 12 targets this week for Jordy Nelson, it means that his targets have now increased in three consecutive games.

Next week, 99 Bortles of Beer on the Wall goes up against the Spartans (4-8, 1,249.12). The M0t0rCityBall3rs play Mile High (5-7, 1,440.49).

Sproles Royce Phantoms Get Victory over The Denver Broncos for 4th Consecutive Win

The Sproles Royce Phantoms took down The Denver Broncos 175.20 to 148.44 and recorded the sixth-highest point total this season. The Sproles Royce Phantoms go to 1-1 this season against The Denver Broncos, avenging a Week 1 loss (129.94 to 124.42) the last time the teams met. The Sproles Royce Phantoms, already one of the highest-scoring teams in the league this season, beat their 131.56 per game average by 33%. To make matters worse, The Denver Broncos had a starter score zero points (Arian Foster). The Sproles Royce Phantoms (6-6, 1,578.66 points) climb into seventh place and The Denver Broncos (7-5, 1,691.30 points) step into third place.

There was one starter on The Denver Broncos that left points out on the field. Even though Justin Hunter saw a total of 10 targets, he reeled in just four catches.

Since C.J. Anderson was the leading scorer for the Sproles Royce Phantoms, it means a different player has now topped the team in each of the past five weeks. With 31.60 points, Emmanuel Sanders paced the squad in Week 8, while Drew Brees put up 18.08 points to lead the way in Week 9. Dez Bryant (31.80 points) was tops in Week 10 and J.J. Watt (20.30 points) led last week.

Next week, the Sproles Royce Phantoms will face league-leader Mr Rodgers Neighborhood (10-2, 1,723.03). The Denver Broncos square off against Fallin-Up (7-5, 1,523.04).

Behind Three Big Performances, EL JEFE Gets Victory Against Mr Rodgers Neighborhood

Spearheaded by the three-headed monster of Eddie Lacy, Demaryius Thomas, and Cody Parkey, EL JEFE picked up a win against Mr Rodgers Neighborhood 155.72 to 128.36. That threesome combined to score 74.50 points, significantly outperforming the top scorers from Mr Rodgers Neighborhood (Johnathan Joseph, Josh Gordon, and Aaron Rodgers), who totaled 59.26 points. Lacy scored two touchdowns, accounting for 26.80 points (125 Rsh Yds, 1 Rsh TD, 1 Rec TD). Meanwhile, Thomas put up three touchdowns (26.70 points) and Parkey made five field goals (21.00 points). Also, Lacy recorded his highest point total of the season. On top of the loss, Mr Rodgers Neighborhood had a starter score zero points (Willie Young). EL JEFE (7-5, 1,433.46 points) remains in sixth place. Mr Rodgers Neighborhood, despite the loss, clinches a playoff spot this week (first place, 10-2, 1,723.03 points).

Trent Richardson had plenty of chances for Mr Rodgers Neighborhood (13 to be exact), but could only manage 3.2 yards per touch.

After scoring 23.4 points last week and 20.8 the week before, Lacy has now led EL JEFE in scoring for three weeks in a row.

In Week 13, EL JEFE faces the X CONS (3-9, 1,434.02). Mr Rodgers Neighborhood gets the Sproles Royce Phantoms (6-6, 1,578.66).

Fallin-Up Snatches Win from X CONS and Stays Undefeated in the Series

Fallin-Up defeated the X CONS 106.70 to 101.74 for their second win in as many head-to-head matchups. Their overall record goes to 7-5, while the X CONS drop to 3-9. Tony Romo passed for four touchdowns and was the reason for the win, putting up 23.80 points for Fallin-Up. Romo looks to be one of the best late-round picks for Fallin-Up, averaging 16.98 points per game. With Thomas Davis delivering zero points for Fallin-Up, the margin could have been larger.

Fallin-Up was very lucky that the X CONS’s top QB was on his bye week, since Blake Bortles could only manage 6.24 points. If Cam Newton (13.80 points per game this year) had played and scored his per-game average, Fallin-Up would have lost by 2.60 points. Since Romo was the top scorer for Fallin-Up, it means a different player has led the team in each of the last four weeks. With 31.80 points, Jeremy Maclin paced the squad in Week 9, while Mark Sanchez (28.58 points) was tops in Week 10 and Le’Veon Bell (30.20 points) last week.

Fallin-Up goes up against The Denver Broncos (7-5, 1,691.30) next week. The X CONS take on EL JEFE (7-5, 1,433.46).
