With Free Agency opening up tomorrow at 4pm, EST, I wanted to go over everything for our newbies to the league. To see the returning player pool, click here.

NOTE: All Free Agency Transactions are Listed at the Bottom of the Page

First, as everyone knows you cannot go into the draft with more than five players! So with that, teams that kept five players can take part in Free Agency if they so choose however it will be much more difficult.

Acquiring a free agent will put those teams over five players and they will need to make roster moves to get back under the five player max before the draft. Dropping a player kept won’t help, as you already paid the price to keep that player (look at it as a signing bonus). If you drop a player you kept, you WILL NOT get that draft pick back. So in short, you’ll lose that player and the draft pick you used to keep that player as well.

Note: Gentlemen, please keep in mind the draft picks you have already designated for a keeper. You obviously can’t trade or try to pick up a FA with a draft pick in a round you do not have a pick or that is already designated for a keeper.

**RFA’s & UFA’s**

Acquiring a RFA or a UFA can ONLY BE DONE ONCE. I repeat, teams can only make one transaction during the free agency period. This is in place so you can’t just go nuts plucking players before the draft, so choose wisely. Also, acquiring a RFA or a UFA will be by email only. This is for me to oversee every transaction so things go as smoothly as possible. I would also like the time stamp for any discrepancies if there is any so I can be as transparent as possible with everyone.

Acquiring a Restricted Free Agent (RFA)

NOTE: Keep in mind you cannot go into the draft with more than 5 players.

A team from the same conference can attempt to steal another teams RFA from them by offering a draft pick one round higher than that players tendered value. The original team must either match that offer, or lose that player to the opposing team.

If the original team matches the offer, then that player will be kept on the original team and will no longer be a RFA (so other teams can’t keep advancing the players round tender), in essence signing a new contract like a real life RFA.

If the original team chooses not to match the offer, then that player will be rostered onto the new team, in essence just like real life RFA’s.

Compensation for the RFA lost will come in the form of a draft pick in the following season. That pick will be determined by that player’s fantasy point ranking for their position for the upcoming season.

Example: Say The Urge to Purge decided to go after I Got Sacks‘ RFA Devonta Freeman who’s asking price is only a 7th round pick. The Urge to Purge will give up their 6th round pick in the 2019 draft to try and grab him. If I Got Sacks’ matches The Urge to Purge’s 6th round offer, then Devonta Freeman’s new draft tender for 2019 is a 6th round pick and he is no longer considered a RFA. If I Got Sacks’ chooses not to match the offer, then The Urge to Purge will get Freeman and give up their 6th round pick in the 2019 draft. I Got Sacks’ will get compensation for losing Freeman in the form of a draft pick in the 2020 draft. The round will be tendered by the players fantasy point total at his position for the 2019 season.

Acquiring an Un-Restricted Free Agent (UFA)

NOTE: Keep in mind you cannot go into the draft with more than 5 players.

Any player not designated as a Keeper or a Restricted Free Agent by their 2018 rostered team are to be considered Unrestricted Free Agents (UFA). Any team can select a player from any other team in their conference as long as they are willing to give up the draft pick required to keep that player. No compensation will be given to the team losing that player in this case.

Example: Say The Urge to Purge decided to go after UFA Larry Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald was not kept by any team last season and is in this years player pool to be redrafted. His draft tender is a 3rd round draft pick. As long as I’m the first to email my intentions with that player and I’m willing to pay the asking price to get Fitzgerald (which is a 3rd round pick in this seasons draft), I can grab him.

Please keep in mind that you will need to have a draft pick in that round available in this seasons draft and not already utilized for a keeper already on your roster. Also keep in mind that you can only do this once…

Once again guys, if any questions please feel free to contact me.

And hope this helps with any confusion…, Late! ?
