COMMISSIONER’S NOTE: The 2020 Draft Lottery

The Draft Lottery is how we determine the draft order for both the Origins & Legends Conferences in The League! – E.F.F.L. Check out the video to watch the reveal unfold…

Article VI – Determining Draft Order

The Draft Lottery is what we use to determine the draft order year after year. In essence, this is just like the NBA Lottery where the worse teams have the best odds of obtaining the 1st Overall Pick! The worst team in both conferences (or the #8 seed in either conferences Draft Lottery) will start off with 25 chances. The next worst team in both conferences (or the #7 seed in either conferences Draft Lottery) will start off with 20 chances and so on. See below for the breakdown…

1st Overall Pick Chances…

  • Worse record gets 25% Chance
  • 2nd-worse gets 20% Chance
  • 3rd-worse gets 15% Chance
  • 4th-worse gets 10% Chance
  • 5th-worse gets 5% Chance

During each conference’s Draft Lottery Playoffs, a 1st Round win will add an additional 2% to your team’s overall chances, a 2nd Round win will add an additional 4% to your team’s overall chances, while becoming your conference’s Draft Lottery Champion will add an additional 9% chance to your overall chances. In short, by winning the draft lottery you will add an additional 15% to your team’s overall chances.

Draft Lottery Results (in your conference)…

  • 1st Place Finish: +15% added to your teams’ chances
  • 2nd Place Finish: +6% added to your teams’ chances
  • 3rd Place Finish: +2% added to your teams’ chances
  • 4th Place Finish: +2% added to your teams’ chances
  • 5th-8th Place Finish: +0% chance added to your teams’ chances

Championship Bracket Results (in your conference)…

  • 1st Place Finish (Champion): 12th Draft Position
  • 2nd Place Finish: 11th Draft Position
  • 3rd Place Finish: 10th Draft Position
  • 4th Place Finish: 9th Draft Position

A. Draft

The draft will go 18 rounds. Draft order is determined by the Draft Lottery from the season before. The draft will be a serpentine draft, with the order being flip flopped every round. If there are new teams coming into the league, they will be able to select up to five players from the team they are taking over to keep as their keepers going into the draft.

The draft has a set date every year. The draft will take place the last weekend of the NFL Preseason (or the Sunday BEFORE the season starts). The scheduled time for the draft may vary from year to year, although the time will ALWAYS be Eastern Standard Time.

If something comes up last minute and you are unable to draft, you have two options. You can designate someone not in the league to draft for you from a list of players and a list of what positions to draft each round, or you can let the draft client auto-draft for you.
