If you’re reading this league story, then you have been formally invited to join my fantasy football league simply titled The League!. This fantasy league is a keeper league that will feature IDP’s and a new feature we’re calling Franchise Tags. For those of you who don’t know what a keeper league is, it’s a league that you can keep a certain amount of players from one year to the next. So basically not only do you own your fantasy team, your also the General Manager. So your roster decisions can and will affect this years fantasy season, as well as next years fantasy season. Note: You MUST establish your teams keepers by the keeper deadline. Keepers Deadline for this league is Oct. 15th.
Also for those who are new to fantasy leagues, IDP stands for Individual Defensive Players. This league will feature IDP’s instead of just picking a teams defense. This adds to the keeper leagues roster changes and makes it that much more interesting in maintaining your teams roster. For most of you, this will be your 1st time in a fantasy league that feature IDP over team defenses. For that reason, we only added a few IDP roster spots. IDP’s adds that extra flare for those of you who really want to feel like they’re managing their fantasy team.
Exclusive to this league is a new feature we’re calling Franchise Tags! Normally your team can establish a total of four keepers (no more than two on Offense and two on defense) for the following season. With Franchise Tags, you can choose to keep a third offensive player or a third defensive player with a slight catch. Once the FT option is used on a player, that player MUST BE RETURNED to the following years draft pool. So let’s say I want my teams keepers to be QB-Tom Brady, RB-Arian Foster, LB-Patrick Willis, and WR-Larry Fitzgerald. I can only choose as many as two offensive players. So if I want to keep a third I will have to use my teams Franchise Tag. In this case, I’ll Franchise Tag WR-Larry Fitzgerald. By doing this, I can choose to keep three offensive players and only one defensive player. But once that season ends, WR-Larry Fitzgerald will have to be added back to the draft pool.
Deciding on how your team will use their Franchise Tag option is completely up to you. Note: You can decide not to use your teams Franchise Tag option if you only want to keep two offensive players and two defensive players. A Second Note: A Franchise Tagged player being return to the draft pool CAN be redrafted by the team he was Franchised Tagged by. A Third Note: In any instance, you can only carry over a total of four players to your next years team roster.
