As promised, this is the Special League Report referring to some of the off-field, team owner duties, that need some addressing in The League! As mentioned in this week’s League Story, there’s a lot of information to sift through as well as going through your normal weekly team duties like setting team rosters and reviewing your teams opponent for this week. As always I’d like to wish everybody good luck this week, and without further ado as I like to say…, let’s get to it!!!

League Poll

There’s a new League Poll up to be voted on by all team owners. This one polls the question, “Should we open up The League! to more teams next season?” Since The League! has started, I’ve had several people asking to join The League! next season. Although I am the Commissioner of this league, this is all of ours league, not just mine. So I poll the question to all of you. I provided the link below. Keeper Rules

As the Keeper’s Deadline approaches (Oct. 15th), I’ve notice some of the team owners have already started to establish their team keeper’s for next season. Although their’s only one team owner that have set their teams keeper’s by league standards, which is why I wanted to address this. By league rules, you are able to establish up to four players as your teams keeper’s. Two offensive players, and two defensive players. The only other variation that is acceptable by league rules is three offensive players & one defensive player. Or one offensive player & three defensive players. You CANNOT keep four offensive players only, or four defensive players only. If you choose to keep a third offensive player, or a third defensive player, you WILL have to Franchise Tag one of the three offensive players, or one of the three defensive players. Franchise Tagging a player really does nothing to your teams roster in the second season. Whoever you choose to Franchise Tag, MUST BE RETURNED to the third season draft pool.

So for example, say my team’s keepers are QB-Tom Brady, RB-Arian Foster, LB-Patrick Willis and WR-Larry Fitzgerald. By keeper league rules, I can only keep two offensive players, and two defensive players. For me to keep a third offensive or defensive player (in this example WR-Larry Fitzgerald), I must Franchise Tag one of the three players. By doing so, my keepers are set for next year’s roster, but whoever I Franchised Tagged for year two, I MUST RETURN to the draft pool for year three, no exceptions! So in this example, I can keep all four of these keepers listed, but I MUST RETURN WR-Larry Fitzgerald back to the draft pool to be drafted for season three. You can ofcourse re-draft that said player if you choose, and you don’t have to use your Franchise Tag option if don’t want to. The option is there for teams that are more heavily, offensively stacked than other teams and don’t want to keep two defensive players. By having these league rules in place, it keeps the better teams from keeping the exact same roster year in and year out, and keeps The League! competitive as well.

The E.L.S.I.E. Award!

Lastly, I want to go over what everybody is playing for…, the league trophy titled The E.L.S.I.E Award! For those of your wondering (and I’m sure all of you are…lol), E.L.S.I.E. stands for…
